Popotan Episode 3

Mii decides to become a mahou shoujo. She befriends a sick girl and cures her (with the help of Ai, Mai, and Unagi, unknowningly to Mii). Meanwhile Mare goes on an eating binge back at the mansion. This was definitely one for the Mii/Momoi fans. You even get to see her with her hair down! Looks much better that way to me. I was gonna post a shot of it...but I just like Ai better.

I suppose I'll start posting pics with comments like I used to, at least until I fill up my measly five megs of space.

And I forgot to mention this earlier: King Records is releasing all of Azumanga Daioh on DVD again. This time it's going to be in six seperate volumes. The first volume came out the 24th. They better not include stuff the original releases didn't have! My wallet took enough beatings the first time around.

Ikkitousen Episode 1

A show with this much fanservicey action but no nudity should be aired at 2:30am not 11:30am! So it can have nudity! Maybe they'll let their guard down in an OVA like G-on Riders did. Anyways, I like Hakufu! She reminds me of a female Gokuu, that's really hot. I like Shimei too! Not so much her chara design, but her wonderful personality. And then there's Mama-san~ She's kinda old, but still hot, and wears glasses~ She's also voiced by Kikuko so that multiplies her hotness by like five. Already this show has three kickin' chicks, so I'll keep watching. However, I don't much care for the whole magical powers deal with the Blue Seed looking emblem things. And the OP and ED songs suck. I hate Move - they need to go far far away.

Famitsu has released some info and a screenshot of Metal Slug Advance. The game will have cards you can collect throughout (called Metal Slug Cards, 100 total) that will change your character's status. There will be different paths within the stages like past games, and there are two selectable characters who are both new to the series: Walter and Taira (the romaji is TAIRA; it could end up being Tyra).

Binzume Yousei (Bottle Fairy) is being made into an anime this fall! Pedo Zepy should be pleased. Here's the seiyuu listing:

Kururu: Nana Mizuki
Sarara: Yui Horie
Chiriri: Kaori Nazuka
Hororo: Ai Nonaka
Tama-chan: Haruko Momoi
Sensei-san: Kishou Taniyama

I hope Nana does the OP and ED...

Man, there hasn't been much interesting news these past few days. The SSZero location test is doing its thing, and it's looking...ok. But other than that - nothing.

I agree with Zepy that the Popotan OP is excellent, but unlike him I am totally digging the actual show too. It's very peaceful and relaxing to watch, sort of like To Heart or Kokoro Toshokan, but with more fanservice. Episode 2 was very nice, and had KONAMI! She doesn't have glasses, but she's totally better than anyone else on the show (sorry Ai). Plus she was supremely voiced by one of the best, Tomoko Kawakami. Click her name to go to her radio show website.

Onegai Twins 2 was great. This show is like watching a rainbow for 23 minutes. I love you Tsubaki~

The official page for the Gunslinger Girl anime is now open. I've been trying to read the manga since it's in the same book as Yotsubato, but it just doesn't hold my interest. I think it's the chara designs...

Here's the seiyuu list:
Yuuka Nanri as Henrietta
Kanako Mitsuhashi as Rico
Eri Sendai as Triela
Ami Koshimizu as Claes
Hitomi Terakado as Angelica

Onegai Twins is cute - definitely keeping in track with this one. Maiku is already ten times cooler than Kei ever was, and the girls - though generic - are very easy on the eye. Tsubaki is of course the best new girl. Meganekko forever!

Be sure to check out the Jasc man's (more detailed) thoughts on it too!

In celebration of the Famicom's 20 year anniversary, Nintendo is running a prize campaign where 1000 lucky dudes will get a special Famicom influenced Game Boy Advance SP. To enter the campaign you must send in an entry form that will come packaged with six upcoming games. The games are: Tales of Phantasia (GBA), Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (GC), Tales of Symphonia (GC), Shinyaku Seiken Densetsu (GBA), Mario Golf Family Tour (GC), and Densetsu no Stafi 2 (GBA). You don't have to buy all six games; only one form is required. Entry deadline is September 30th.

Not what I was expecting, but cool nonetheless.

Saturday, 2003.07.12 @ 2:43am
Nintendo is giving another game another limited edition Gamecube package. This time it's Namco's Tales of Symphonia. Called the Tales of Symphonia + Enjoy Plus Pack ~Symphonic Green Edition~, the package includes a special "symphonic green" Gamecube console (with special illustrated lid), a GameBoy Player of the same color, a memory card 59, and of course the actual ToS game. Sale commences August 29th. The price: 28,000 yen. From: Namae no Nai Heya

Does this game really deserve a limited edition Gamecube? It doesn't look too hot so far, but... *crosses fingers*

Thursday, 2003.07.10 @ 3:34pm
Capcom renewed their Rockman X7 web site; lots of new stuff added. The eight mavericks finally get names (rough translation/romaji/what they are):

Soldier Stonekong / Sorujaa Sutonkongu / Gorilla
Snipe Ariquick / Sunaipu Arikuikku / Anteater
Flame Hyenard / Fureimu Haienaado / Hyena
Hellride Inobusky / Heruraido Inobusukii / Warthog
Vanishing Gargarun / Vanishingu Garugarun / Kangaroo
Wind Karasting / Uindo Karasutingu / Crow
Tornado Debonion / Toruneedo Debonion / Onion (!?)
Splash Wofly / Supurashu Uofurai / Flying Fish

The game still looks like crap. But I hope to eat my words.

I managed to watch the first episodes of three new anime yesterday: D.C., Takahashi Rumiko Gekijou, and Sumebamiyako no Cosmos-sou ~Suttoko Taihen Dokkoidaa~.

How can a hentai game turned anime like D.C. with such a cliché story get an awesome cast like this!? It makes no sense! You got Yui Horie, Yukari Tamura, Yuki Matsuoka, Sakura Nogawa, Naoko Matsui, and even Haruko Momoi in this thing! And you're forced to hear them spout out lines that any Japanese PC gamer has heard or read over a gazillion times. I think the producers knew how crappy the show would be and hired as many popular seiyuu as they could to make people watch. Unfortunately the technique has worked on me! Blah!

If they get Miharu to hug a couple girls every week though, then all is forgiven.

I don't have much to say about Takahashi Rumiko Gekijou. It's a nice, family oriented show and was fun to watch, so I think I'll continue with it.

Cosmos-sou was awesome. This is totally on my top priority anime list(along with Air Master, yeah that's right, Air Master). I'm big on super hero stuff, especially live action super hero stuff, and this played out just like one of those, except with the quirks of anime. I love how all the characters, friend and foe, live together in the same apartment complex. It's going to make for some interesting situations (hopefully)!

Monday, 2003.07.07 @ 4:47pm
R.O.D. THE TV will begin airing September 1st on the Sky Perfect! PPV channel. The main cast has also been revealed:

Chiwa Saitou as Anita
(Kokoro/Kokoro Toshokan, Ayame/Wandaba Style)

Hiromi Hirota as Maggie
(voiced tiny parts in many various anime, this has to be a big break for her)

Shouko Kikuchi as Michelle
(in the same boat as Hirota, though a little more established)

Satsuki Yukino as Nenene Sumirekawa
(Kaname/FMP, Tina/Ai Yori Aoshi, Mutsumi/Love Hina, many more)

I should of posted this a long time ago, but if any of you out there are fans of video game music, be sure to check out Saitama Saishuuheki. They're a "band" in Japan consisting of two brothers who make remixes of their favorite game tunes (not anymore though, they stopped a month ago *sniff*). Their page has tons of full mp3s up for download. Most of it is of the hard rock/metal type (think Guilty Gear) but it's all really nice.

I watched the first episode of Divergence Eve yesterday. I was really looking forward to this show at first because of Toshinari Yamashita's hot chicks, but it ended up being a little too sci-fi for my tastes. However, I think I like the characters and voice actors enough to keep on watching.

The highlight of the show was definitely the ending song, "Pump up!" Great song! With a sekushii animation to go along with it. This is Nao Nagasawa's debut CD single. She played Nanami Nono (Hurricane Blue) on last years super sentai show Ninpuu Sentai Hurricanger. Go Nao!

Thursday, 2003.07.04 @ 6:32pm
I'm not very big on Dragon Quest, which is why I didn't talk about this sooner, but there's a standalone game based on DQ coming out called Kenshin Dragon Quest: Yomigaerishi Densetsu no Ken. In the game you use a real plastic sword to interact with (kill) things on screen. If you're interested, fenegi at Video-fenky has written up some nice, detailed information on it in his July 3rd entry.

Uh oh, the PowerGlove returns...for the PC! But now it's called the P5 GLOVE. Just looking at one of the pics of it in "action" brings back fond memories of ridiculing my friend when he discovered how the PowerGlove worked nothing like advertised. This same guy bought a U-FORCE too. What a shmuck. And I hope he's reading! ;P

It's actually been out in America for a while it seems. I had no idea. Or maybe I did...

I don't really care for diginovel games, but it looks like NEC is porting Sentimental Graffiti ~Yakusoku~ (PlayStation) to Dreamcast this September. From: Namae no Nai Heya

I love the original Sentimental Graffiti like crazy, but Yakusoku was pretty boring. Why they would port it all of a sudden is beyond me.
