Mahoraba #4

Kozue stays as Kozue, Tama does awesome stuff, two new likeable characters get introduced, and Kozue stays as Kozue. The result is an excellent episode. Screw the DID gimmick! The show doesn't need it!

UG Ultimate Girl #4

Tsubomi saves the day by faking a heart attack then yanking out Needle Man's stethoscope schlong. Tsubomi's transformation sequence was ready this time.

DearS DVD #10

I can honestly say this was the best episode of DearS, though it was pretty tame and lame for being DVD only.

Mai-HiME DVD Vol.1 Omake

Two special videos included with this release. One is the story of Mai's first bra. It consists of three still picture pans while Mai tells the story. The girl is proud of her boobies.

The next one is Mai and Mikoto watching a TV commercial that's advertising Fuuka Gakuen. Mashiro introduces herself in the commercial and talks about how wonderful the school is. Various locations around the school are shown while she's yapping. Every now and then a bad picture (monster, mountain on fire) pops up amidst the nice pictures and the commercial quickly censors it. Before it gets too drawn out Mai turns off the TV and comments on how it's a load of BS.

The limited edition of this release also comes with another DVD that has a 21 minute video of 19 seiyuu from the show introducing themselves and talking about their characters. A long version of the old promotion video is on the DVD as well.

The seiyuu video is great! All my favorites are present and Akira Ishida is absent, just like he should be. Everyone says the same stuff seiyuu usually say in these kinds of things but Yukana, who voices both Mashiro and Fumi, comments on something I hadn't thought about previously. Fumi's name is Himeno Fumi. Read differently, it becomes Hime no Fumi. That could mean "A Hime's Fumi" or "Fumi the Hime." Probably nothing, but you never know. Personally I think Mashiro's the HiME and Fumi is her Child.

Anyway, just thought I'd share. Here's hoping the Natsuki/Shizuru segment on the next DVD is animated. Still picture pans wouldn't do it justice.

Samurai Champloo #19

A "foreigner" uses religion as a front for illegal gun manufacturing. Fuu gets captured as usual and the boys come to save the day, with a little help from Momo.

During the main plot, Fuu meets a woman who knows a sunflower smelling samurai. The woman knows him as Seizou-san, and the last time she saw him was on Ikitsuki Island, so that's where the gang is headed now. Fuu also lets everyone know that the samurai she's looking for is her father. About time!

Mai-HiME #17

A reflections episode. And I feel like listing crap. Bullet list sanjou!

GIRLS Bravo second season #1

New OP animation and song. They waste no time getting to the boobies. The song itself ("Ever After" by yozuca) is boring just like the first season's OP. I like the new ED song ("and then" by Miyuki Hashimoto), though. The new animation with Miharu going through various scenery is cool too.

Right back into filler territory (though it never left) with some body snatching fun. Not much to say other than I enjoyed it.

But I think I'll enjoy this next episode a lot more.

JINKI:EXTEND #4

Aoba trains with Rui to improve her stamina. It eventually improves after she gets help from the Moribito crew (without realizing it). Things are looking up for her until she takes a bath with mommy, who proceeds to lay it on thick trying to convince Aoba that Moribito is a tool of murder, not some fun loving party robot.

If Shizuka were smart, she'd just make a loop tape saying "you want to kill people" and put it on Aoba's nightstand as she sleeps. Of course that would speed up the story considerably, and we probably wouldn't of been able to see Ponytail Aoba~

School Rumble #17

Yakumo up the wazoo. No thanks. At least Tenma got a few good moments in to keep it from being a total loss. And the CG Akira segment at the end was...interesting.

Next week's an Ichijou ep! Yay~

Sunabouzu #15

Suna and his three childhood "buddies" become hired help for another childhood buddy, Natsuko, who's commanding a vessel that carries crap loads of curry to various towns. After an attack by Amagumo on the vessel, Suna finds out that Natsuko knows kenpo, and suspects there's more to her and this operation than meets the eye. Then the ep ends on a cliffhanger, which gets spoiled in the next ep preview! Blah!

Aside from the spoiled ending, this was really entertaining stuff. I only wish Junko were involved somehow.

Tsukuyomi ~MOON PHASE~ #16

New baddie Mario goes to a sorceress named Frizz and gets a clue to the whereabouts of Haduki, which leads him to a bookstore that has a magazine with a photo of Haduki on the cover, which was taken by Kouhei during the episode.

Coincidentally(?), I noticed that Frizz has the same voice actor as Kouhei's mom from the previous flashbacks of his past. Hmmm...

Anyway, that was it as far as plot developments go. Everything else was wonderful filler. In fact, this was the best episode since 3, for me. The character interactions were just great and Haduki's design and moeness were in top form. Shoot, even Erofriede looked cute.

Mahoraba #3

My ears! They bleed! Nanako should be a mute! The only times she came off as cute were when she jiiii'ed and during the comic strip segment, where she only spoke ONE word. Any other time she sounds like a grown woman doing a very bad impression of a six year old. Luckily she falls asleep and Kozue and the rest of the gang come back to save the episode. UNluckily Saki comes back at the end of the episode to confuse me with her good looks and awful voice.

I just can't win with this show! But I must keep watching! For Kozue's sake!

UG Ultimate Girl #3

Silk takes out Charge Man by squeezing his private train. So I guess Silk's the only one that gets a fully animated transformation sequence? Here she was naked starting out and she still got one (which looked really odd at certain parts). Doesn't seem fair to the other girlies, but oh well, Silky's the best anyway!

1.23.2005

Gakuen Alice #11

Mikan gets some Alice training and finds out she can activate it when trying to protect someone important to her. There were a lot of more serious matters sprinkled throughout this episode as well. I look forward to seeing where they go.

1.22.2005

Samurai Champloo #18

Two brothers have a graffiti tag battle in Hiroshima. Norio Wakamoto teaches Mugen how to read. Mugen invents the infinity (mugen) symbol. Fuu acts cute.

Same old Champloo. I've missed you, Fuuuuuu!

Mai-HiME #16

Mai returns and things go back to "normal." Midori rounds up the gang later on and proposes a plan to form a HiME sentai to thwart any future orphans. Everyone eventually agrees and they go karaoking to celebrate (need more drunk Midori!). After the celebration Nagi informs them that there won't be any more orphans, and that their objective now is to destroy each others CHILDs.

Every HiME for herself! I doubt it'll come to that, but I certainly wouldn't mind if it did. I'm already diggin' this arc way more than the JCPennyys one, and nothing's even happened.

JINKI:EXTEND #3

Aoba meets Minami and Rui after hospitalizing Genta and running away from the facility. When Ryouhei finds them, Aoba tells him that she wants to pilot Moribito in Genta's place. Rui thinks SHE should take Genta's place, and challenges Aoba to a game of keep away to decide. Aoba wins the game with her THRUST VECTORING power, freeze frame shocking everyone.

The animation was excellent in this episode. Better than the previous ep. And the music during the first half of the keep away game was awesomely old school.

I guess I should mention that the rest of the girls from EXTEND made appearances too, in the future scenes which aren't being handled very well in my opinion. I'd much prefer a natural progression over the spliced in flashforwards we're getting now. But I guess it can't be helped if the show sticks to its current 13 episode schedule.

School Rumble #16

A mountain trip full of misunderstandings. All you need to make a great episode of School Rumble. Though I do wish they had showed some of what happened between Mikoto and Imadori.

1.18.2005

Sunabouzu #14

Taiko wants a bigger gun, but what she gets is a stronger spirit. Taiko banzai! I liked the mahou shoujo bit at the beginning. Could it be foreshadowing for an upcoming Chiwa Saitou mahou shoujo show!? No, but I can dream~

1.17.2005

Tsukuyomi -MOON PHASE- #15

Luna and Kouhei "kiss" and make up, then Haduki returns the next day~ Chiwa's voice was back to normal this week much to the pleasure of my ears. She even got some of her patented crying in.

Tons of changes in the OP this time. I made a collage. If you want pics of past episode OP changes, ending pics, eyecatches, and other stuff, check out this page, run by Heppoko. Here's his main blog. He also has a nice "just the facts" page for Nanoha.

1.17.2005

JINKI:EXTEND #2

Aoba has a reunion with her hot momma, studies the JINKI operation manual, then sneaks aboard the JINKI yet again. But this time through convenient circumstances she gets to pilot it. The animation while not as good as the previous episode was still quite adequate. And Aoba still rocks my socks.

Sunabouzu #12 & 13

I wasn't really feeling episode 12. It had its moments, but the girl Suna was rescuing was one of the most annoying chara I've ever had the displeasure to watch, or rather, listen to. Episode 13 was great, though. It had a nice twist in its story that really showed the craziness of the world they live in.

The OP and ED were changed in episode 13 as well. I don't know why they changed them, the old ones were perfectly fine. These new ones are too...modern.
