Mai-HiME #20 Bullet Summary

Nao comes to Takumi's hospital room to kill him. Nagi is on a rooftop wondering what wonderful color Mai's serious side will be dyed on this beautiful night.
Akira pops in to Takumi's room and materializes her weapon. Nao comments on Akira being a HiME. Akira asks why Nao's after Takumi. Nao blames the girls for what happened to her eye. Akira attacks. Nao jumps out the window onto Julia. Akira picks up Takumi, jumps out the window, calls Gennai, uses some invisibility jutsu, and escapes. Nao shot a spider string onto Gennai before Akira used the jutsu so she can see exactly where they're going. Damn Akira, some ninja you are!
At Rorschach bar, Natsuki has a meeting with Yamada. He says they've transferred Akane to a real hospital. He also says he's found someone who wants to exchange info with Natsuki.
Nao calls Mai. She tells Mai she's chasing after Takumi and Akira. She teases that Mai actually hates Takumi and wishes he were gone.
Meanwhile, Midori gets the news that Takumi is missing. Midori tries to call Mai (who's still talking to Nao at the time), can't get through, then calls Natsuki, tells her what's going on, and asks for help. Natsuki tells Yamada she has to put the meeting on hold, then leaves the bar. I noticed in the scene where Midori is dialing Mai's number that Yukino's name is shown on her phone before it quickly changes to Mai's name. It probably just means that Yukino is the one that called about Takumi, but...hmmmm.
At the hospital, police are investigating Takumi's room. Tate finds out and talks about it with Shiho in her room. Tate says he's worried about Mai. Shiho gets a super manly evil look on her face, then they cut to a crow kawing, then back to Shiho's room. Shiho plays it off.
Nao finds Akira in the forest. Midori comes to destract Nao so Akira can get away.
As Mai is running to the forest, she has a flashback about her mother. In the flashback, Mai left Takumi by a river, Takumi apparently fell in, and Mai's mom jumped in to save him. This lead to her getting bed-ridden, then eventually death. Natsuki slaps Mai to get her attention and give her some encouragement. Then Yatagarasu shows up and attacks. Its attack ends up blowing up a piece of Mai's dorm. Natsuki tells Mai to go find Takumi while she takes care of Yatagarasu.
Akira tells Takumi all about the HiME and how if she's defeated, he'll disappear. Takumi says no prob. Then they embrace. Takumi knows no fear!
Yukariko is on a cliff giving the girls God's blessing. Ishigami is behind her and starts running his mouth. "A child gets stronger when it takes the power of the one it defeats. Mai's power is excessive. So if she loses her most important person, Nao will be able to defeat her since she won't be able to summon her child. And if that happens, the greatest obstacle will be gone. The Earth will be relieved. All this to make you the strongest HiME." Yukariko says ha! Ishigami adds: "Kokuyou no Kimi, I will supersede you. The power of the star is mine." So according to this, if the most important person dies, the corresponding HiME won't be able to summon her child? Makes sense. But will the girl still be a HiME...?
Back to Natsuki and Yatagarasu. Natsuki asks who she is and why she's going after Mai. The bridal gown girl says "it's not you," attacks, then disappears.
Natsuki runs back to the blown up dorm, where Shizuru is trying to calm students down. Haruka and Yukino drive up onto the scene in a car. Yukino is feeling down, but Haruka cheers her back up. Then Natsuki tells Haruka she has to borrow Yukino for a while and they both leave the scene.
Mikoto is walking in the forest when she sees Yatagarasu flying overhead. She recalls what it was then her pendant makes her go apeshit. She goes after it.
Yatagarasu finds Akira and Takumi. Mikoto finds them all as well.
Yukino uses Diana to help Mai locate Takumi. After he's found, Mai flies off to his location.
In the threesome battle, Mikoto kicks Akira down then goes after Gennai. Gennai jumps in the air to dodge Mikoto's attack but gets knocked back down by Yatagarasu. Mai arrives on the scene and tends to the fallen Akira. Akira yells for Gennai to run away but it's too late. It gets destroyed by Yatagarasu. Don't let the scenes fool you into thinking it was Mikoto, you can clearly see Yatagarasu flying behind Akira and Mai in the scene where she's yelling at Gennai to run. Not to say Mikoto didn't have a hand in the whole thing. She was trying to kill Gennai just the same.
Akira faints, Takumi evaporates in Mai's arms. Another pillar is raised in that underground place. I so didn't see this coming. Great!
Mai sees Mikoto and thinks it was her that killed Gennai. She summons Kagutsuchi in a rage. She got so furious she bit her lip! Yeah!
Mikoto, who's back to normal mode, tries to make sense of the situation. She says if she's the cause of Mai getting sad and angry then she has no say in the matter.
Kagutsuchi spits out a fireball which blows up another part of campus. Natsuki sees it and runs to the fight. Nao and Midori see it. Nao runs off. Mashiro and Fumi see it. Mashiro says it's too late; this is exactly what she didn't want to happen. Yukariko and Ishigami see it. Ishigami says "why!? why is this happening!?" Nagi sees it, and of course he's all smiles and laughs.
Back in the battle, Mikoto has dodged the fireball. Mai is not happy. Kagutsuchi starts spitting out more fire, which Mikoto dodges all of. Mikoto says "Mai is attacking me." She then recalls something her brother told her: "If someone attacks you, they're your enemy." So Mikoto puts two and two together, her pendant flares up, and she goes back to apeshit mode. They commence to brawling. Admist the brawling, Kagutsuchi fries Diana's mushroom things, which were making Kagutsuchi invisible to outsiders.
Natsuki uses Dhuran to fend off Mikoto (damn, does she not care about Dhuran!?) then asks if they know what the hell they're doing. Mai says hell yes. Natsuki sees Akira lying unconscious then Mikoto does her ground pillar attack. It's about to hit Natsuki and Mai when Kiyohime (Shizuru's child, supposedly) busts in and stops it. We then see a silhouette of a girl in flames holding a naginata (think Seung Mina from Soul Edge). She does a little motion then Kiyohime goes after Kagutsuchi, pushing it away.
Mikoto runs to Mai and knocks her down, then jumps in the air for a final strike. Natsuki yells "Stop Mikoto! That's Mai! You said you loved her!" Mikoto returns to normal mode at the last second and diverts her strike. Natsuki shoots Miroku away from her.
Mikoto has a flashback of her grandpa, who she killed. In his dying words, he lets it be known to the audience that Kokuyou no Kimi is Mikoto's brother.
Mikoto is in tears. Mai finally snaps out of her rage when she notices. Kagutsuchi however is still piping hot and spits a huge fireball at Mikoto before Mai can stop it. Mikoto just stands there and takes it. I'm certain she's not dead, though. And hey, what the heck happened to Kiyohime?
We see Miroku sticking out of the ground in what's left of the forest. Mai walks a bit and finds Takumi's medicine holder, then it starts raining. Natsuki is tending to Akira. Mai walks off. So, Takumi's CLOTHES evaporate but his medicine holder doesn't!? Then it remains nicely unscathed throughout the entire battle!? Anime logic strikes again.
Mai is walking through the rain thinking about Takumi, blaming herself for what happened, saying that if they stuck together, etc. She recalls when Takumi asked what she really wants. Mai says there's really nothing left, then thinks of Tate, but says that could never happen. And if it did, HE would be the next to go. So she says no, it won't happen, there's nothing I want. Then we hear Reito say "Really? Haven't you already realized? The someone you'll give your loving heart to." Mai says he's wrong. Reito walks up and embraces her. Mai starts crying out loud. Episode ends. I'd like to mention that the rain effects in this scene were really nice.
